Volunteer Opportunities in Worcester

OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

ARTS VOLUNTEERS
The Arches-Worcester festival team are looking for volunteers to help bring the city’s brand new festivals to life in 2020.

Enthusiastic and approachable volunteers, eager to get stuck in with every element of staging unforgettable events are being sought by the new festival team (pictured). No experience is necessary, applicants just need to be over 18, energetic and enjoy meeting and helping others.

‘Our volunteers will be a really important and integral part of our festivals’ says David Edmunds the festival director. ‘There will be a lot to do from dressing the festival site and collecting feedback to meeting and greeting visitors and looking after information points - all hugely important tasks for the success of our festivals.’

Volunteers will help with Atmosphere which takes place on Saturday 25 April, Disrupting the Norm taking place from 6th to 11th July and Worcester’s International Story Festival which will take place in October.

EMERGENCY NIGHT SHELTER
Each winter Caring for Communities and People (CCP) is involved with coordinating and running Emergency Night Shelters across Worcestershire, to protect rough sleepers from freezing temperatures.

Winter is a particularly harsh time for those living on our streets and there is no doubt that the dedication of staff and volunteers saves many people from freezing to death.

The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) runs until March and the aim is to have a pool of people to ensure that shifts are spread evenly, with the ability to cover any night at short notice with minimum disruption.

Experience is not necessary but some empathy for vulnerable adults and common sense in terms of people management is essential.
