English Symphony Orchestra with Academia Musica Choir, conducted by Kenneth Woods.
Two of the great musical manifestations of the Napoleonic Wars form the heart of this exciting concert- Haydn’s Mass, performed by the hugely acclaimed Academia Musica Choir, is a powerful plea for love and peace, while Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’ is the greatest-ever musical manifesto in the cause of human liberty and freedom. The concert opens with a new tone poem by Philip Sawyers inspired by the paintings of Samuel Palmer, a work brimming with colour, melody and dram in the best Beethovenian spirit.
