Worcester Stands Tall
This summer, multi-coloured giraffe sculptures are taking over the streets of Worcester!
Worcester Stands Tall is an interactive art trail with 30 individually designed sculptures placed in a variety of well-loved locations around the city. It runs from Monday 9th July until Sunday 16th September.
Each large sculpture has been individually decorated by an artist and sponsored by organisations across Worcestershire. The photo shows Suzie Hunt painting her giraffe in public at Crowngate Shopping Centre, but you’ll have to wait until the start of the event to see the completed sculptures!
Alongside the 8ft tall giraffes, 26 smaller calf sculptures, each carefully decorated by schools and community groups, will be displayed in the Crowngate Shopping Centre.
The trail is a Wild in Art event, brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice. The sculptures will be auctioned in October raise money for the hospice’s Build 2020 Appeal, which is helping to fund a £5.3 million expansion and redevelopment of the St Richard’s building in Worcester.
Once the trail has finished, there will be a Farewell Event featuring all the sculptures in Worcester Cathedral from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th October and the auction of sculptures is on Thursday 11th October.
